The Studio

We make objects meant to be used — not admired from a shelf, but lifted, poured from, and set down again every day.

Terreno began in 2014 as a single kiln in a borrowed Alfama courtyard. Twelve years on, we remain deliberately small: four throwers, two glaze technicians, and a wholesale list of just over two hundred independent shops, restaurants and design stores across Europe.

Every piece in this collection is wheel-thrown or hand-built from Portuguese stoneware, glazed by hand, and twice-fired to 1,260°C. Slight variation in tone and form is intrinsic to the work — it is the signature of the maker, not a flaw.

A small-necked vessel for a single stem or a short gathering of wildflowers. The matte fog glaze breaks pale over the thrown ridges, catching light along the shoulder.

Piece of the Season

The Alfama
Heirloom Bowl

One bowl, thrown in a single pull from 2.4 kg of stoneware, glazed in a reactive clay that no two firings repeat exactly.

The Heirloom is the largest piece we make and the slowest — only Marisol throws it, and only on Mondays, when the studio is quiet. The reactive clay glaze pulls rust at the rim and pools deep amber in the well, so every bowl is genuinely one of one. We fire fewer than ten a month. Order early for the season; the waitlist closes once kiln space is committed.

Wholesale Terms

Opening Order

First orders have a minimum of €350 (ex. VAT). Reorders carry no minimum. Per-piece minimums are noted on each item and apply per glaze.

Lead Times

Tableware ships in 4 weeks, Bath & Home in 6 weeks from confirmed payment. Seasonal pieces are made to order and may run longer during Q4.

Payment

50% deposit confirms your slot in the kiln schedule; the balance is due before despatch. We accept SEPA transfer and card. Net-30 available after three orders.

Freight & Breakage

Shipped palletised, double-boxed in straw. Prices exclude freight, quoted at order. We replace transit breakage free within 14 days of a photographed claim.
