How to save a Claude chat or artifact as a PDF

Copy from Claude
For an answer, click the Copy button under the message. For an artifact, open it and click Copy in the artifact panel. Both give you Markdown.

Pick one of four designs and Letter or A4 paper. Turn the cover and table of contents on or off.

Click Download PDF, then choose Save as PDF in the print dialog.
Claude artifacts to PDF
When Claude writes a long document, such as a report, a plan or a guide, it often puts it in an artifact next to the chat. Document artifacts are Markdown. Open the artifact, click Copy, and paste it here.
You can also download a document artifact as a .md file from the artifact panel. Open that file in a text editor, copy the text and paste it here.
Code artifacts, such as a React app or an HTML page, are programs, not documents. To keep their code in a PDF, put the code in a fenced code block with three backticks before and after it.
Save a whole Claude conversation
Claude copies one message at a time. To keep a full conversation, copy each answer and paste them here in order. Put a ## heading above each answer, so the table of contents lists them.
To get a copy of all your chats, open Settings, then Privacy, then Export data in Claude. You get an email with your conversations as data files.
What you get in the PDF
Claude answers often use headings, numbered lists, tables and quotes. Each of these gets a matching style in the PDF. Headings at the top level show at the top of each page, so readers know where they are in a long document.

Is this converter free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no page limit. The only limit is 200,000 characters per document, which is about 60 pages.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The PDF is made in your browser. Your text is not sent to our server and is not saved.
Can Claude make a PDF file itself?
Claude can write the content and the code for a PDF, and on some plans it can create files. For a quick, designed PDF of text you already have, paste it here. It takes a few seconds.
Does the converter keep Claude's tables?
Yes. Markdown tables become styled tables with a header row. Long tables continue on the next page, and a row is never split.
I want a fully designed report, not just a formatted chat. What should I use?

The PDF has a date or a web address at the top of each page. How do I remove it?
In the print dialog, open More settings and turn off Headers and footers. The page numbers and section titles of the design stay.

Yes. Tap Download PDF and the document opens in a new tab with the print screen. On Android, choose Save as PDF. On iPhone, tap the Share button on the print screen, then Save to Files.
