How to convert a Notion page to PDF

  1. 1

    Export the page from Notion

Open the page, click the ••• menu at the top right, and choose Export. Set the format to Markdown & CSV and click Export. Notion downloads a .zip file.

  2. 2

    Copy the Markdown

Open the .zip file, open the .md file in a text editor, select all and copy. For a quick copy, you can also select the blocks on the page in Notion and copy them.

  3. 3

    Paste it here

Paste into the box. The page title becomes the cover, and your headings make the table of contents.

  4. 4

    Save the PDF

Pick a design and paper size, click Download PDF, and choose Save as PDF.

Why not use Notion's own PDF export?

Notion's PDF export gives you the page as it looks on screen: one plain style, no cover and no table of contents with page numbers. On some plans, exporting a page with its sub-pages as PDF is not available.

The Markdown export works on every plan. This converter turns it into a laid-out document: a cover from the page title, a table of contents, page numbers, and headings that start in the right place.

What comes through from Notion

Headings, text, bullet and numbered lists, to-do lists, quotes, code blocks, dividers and links all come through. Simple tables come through as tables.

Inline databases export as separate CSV files, not as part of the page. To include one, change its view to a simple table in Notion first, or copy the rows into a Markdown table.

The text inside toggle blocks is part of the export, so it shows in the PDF.

Images in a Notion export

Notion puts images in a folder next to the .md file and links them with a local path. A local path does not work in a pasted document, so the PDF shows the image name in their place.

To keep an image, replace its path with a full https address of the image, for example from your own website or an image host.

Frequently asked questions

Is this converter free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no page limit. The only limit is 200,000 characters per document, which is about 60 pages.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The PDF is made in your browser. Your text is not sent to our server and is not saved.

Do I need a paid Notion plan?

No. The Markdown & CSV export is on every Notion plan, and this converter is free.

Can I convert a Notion page with sub-pages?

Yes. Export the page with its sub-pages, then paste the Markdown of each page one after another. Make the title of each sub-page a # heading, so each one starts on a new page like a chapter.

Can I make a designed handbook or guide instead?

Yes. BuildPDFs writes and designs full documents like handbooks, SOPs and guides from a prompt or from your notes. Each page gets a layout made for its content, and you download a print-ready PDF.

The PDF has a date or a web address at the top of each page. How do I remove it?

In the print dialog, open More settings and turn off Headers and footers. The page numbers and section titles of the design stay.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Tap Download PDF and the document opens in a new tab with the print screen. On Android, choose Save as PDF. On iPhone, tap the Share button on the print screen, then Save to Files.
