Project Overview
Project Overview
This Statement of Work governs the brand identity design engagement between June Marlowe (Freelancer) and Foglight Coffee (Client). It defines the scope of work, deliverables, payment schedule, revision policy, and project terms for the creation of a comprehensive brand identity system for Foglight Coffee.
Foglight Coffee runs three specialty cafés in Portland and sells its roasts online. The current look — a stock logo and a different colour on every menu, cup and web page — no longer matches the quality in the cup.
The goal of this engagement is to deliver a complete, production-ready brand identity system that Foglight Coffee can deploy consistently across all touchpoints: digital product, marketing website, sales materials, and internal communications. The deliverables will be documented in a brand guidelines document suitable for use by internal teams and future design contractors.
What Success Looks Like
At the end of this engagement, Foglight Coffee will have one clear identity and a fast five-page website that its team can update without help — on cups, menus, bags and online.

- Color palette — primary brand colors, secondary palette, and functional color definitions (success, warning, error states).
- Typography system — primary typeface selection and licensing recommendation, secondary typeface, type scale for both print and digital contexts.
- Brand guidelines document — 15–20 page PDF covering logo usage rules, clear space, color values (HEX/RGB/CMYK/Pantone), typography, and usage examples.
- File delivery — all final assets delivered as SVG, PNG (transparent, @1x/@2x/@3x), and PDF. Figma source file included.

|---|---|---|---|
| Milestone 1 — Kickoff | Signed SOW + project start | $4,960 | Due on signing |
| Milestone 2 — First Draft Approval | Client approves logo direction in Round 2 | $3,720 | Due within 3 business days of approval |

Total Project Fee $12,400
Payment accepted via ACH bank transfer, wire, or PayPal. Invoices issued via FreshBooks. Work does not begin on subsequent phases until milestone payments are received. Late payments (beyond 5 business days) accrue 1.5% monthly interest.
Revision Policy
Revision Policy
This engagement includes 2 rounds of revisions per phase. A "revision round" is defined as a single consolidated set of feedback from the client, responded to with a single updated version from the freelancer. Multiple rounds of minor tweaks within what should be a single feedback cycle do not qualify as separate revision rounds.
What's Included
- Round 1: Presentation of 3 logo directions and initial client feedback
- Round 2: Refined direction based on Round 1 feedback, plus client revisions
- One additional pass on each deliverable (color palette, type system, guidelines) after initial presentation
Additional Revisions
Revisions beyond the included rounds are billed at $150/hour, rounded to the nearest quarter-hour. June will provide an estimate before beginning additional revision work. Scope changes (e.g., adding a new logo variation category after approval) are also billed at this rate.
Revision requests must be submitted as a single consolidated document (PDF, Figma comment thread, or clearly organized email). Fragmented or piecemeal feedback delivered across multiple messages may result in additional revision rounds being consumed.

Frequently asked questions
What is a statement of work?
A statement of work, or SOW, is a formal document that defines a specific engagement between a client and a service provider. It states the goal, the deliverables, what is explicitly out of scope, the timeline, and the price, then both sides sign it.
What should a statement of work include?
Include the engagement goal, a list of deliverables, a section stating what is not included, the timeline, pricing and payment terms, and a signature block. This template has a dedicated page for each, including the exclusions that prevent scope creep.
How is a statement of work different from a proposal?
A proposal pitches the work and tries to win the client. A statement of work is the binding document signed once the client agrees, and it governs the engagement, including what happens if either side wants to add work later.
Is this statement of work template free?
Yes. You can customize the statement of work template for free and download it as a print-ready PDF. Describe the engagement to the AI and it fills in the scope, deliverables, and terms.
